appropriate art
Considering authorship of work being the key element in appropriation art, is it not the innovation that frees these artists from the constraints of artistic recognition beset to them by society? The key to authorship would seem to be originality, and in turn originality is gained through innovation. One can see no lack of innovation on the behalf of the appropriation artist and what his or her goals and intents are, so through this process we find that appropriation art should be considered an art form in its own right, nevertheless we should not forget that because we have granted these such artists with authorship of their work, we should still consider whether or not their work deserves it’s place in art history, whether their work could be considered a masterpiece, or not.

‘Roissy, just the two of us!’: these days, surely, it was in these crowded places where thousands of individual itineraries converged for a moment, unaware of one another, that there survived something of the uncertain charm of the waste lands, the yards and building sites, the station platforms and waiting rooms where travellers break step, of all the chance meeting places where fugitive feelings occur of the possibility of continuing adventure, the feeling that all there is to do is ‘see what happens’.
